Anaesthesia

Liposuction of Donor Areas

Fat Processing

BBL recovery has some specific requirements that are different from other body contouring procedures — particularly around sitting and sleeping positions in the early weeks. Following Dr. Orman’s aftercare instructions carefully is essential to maximising the survival rate of the transferred fat and ensuring the best possible final result.
Timeline:
Days 1–3
Swelling, bruising and discomfort in both the donor areas and the buttocks is completely normal. Pain is well managed with prescribed medication. You must avoid sitting or lying directly on your buttocks during this critical early period to protect the transferred fat cells. A BBL pillow will be provided to help manage this.
Week 1–2
Swelling begins to reduce and bruising starts to fade. You will attend a follow-up appointment with Dr. Orman before returning home. Avoiding direct pressure on the buttocks remains essential during this period. Most patients manage light daily activities by the end of week one.
Week 2–6
Sitting restrictions gradually ease from around week 3 to 4 with Dr. Orman's guidance. Compression garments continue to be worn on the donor areas. Early results begin to become visible as swelling reduces though the transferred fat continues to settle during this period.
Month 1–3
Strenuous exercise should be avoided until cleared by Dr. Orman, typically around 6 weeks. The final volume and shape of the enhancement becomes increasingly apparent as the transferred fat fully settles and the surviving fat cells establish their permanent blood supply.
Final Results
Final BBL results are typically fully visible between 3 and 6 months after surgery. It is normal for some of the transferred fat to be reabsorbed by the body during healing — Dr. Orman accounts for this during the procedure. Activities to avoid during recovery:
